Affiliate Scheme

The Simple Guide to Goals offers a revenue sharing affiliate scheme. This allows you to earn money by promoting the site, and tap into the huge self-help market (which some estimate to be worth over $10billion in the USA alone).

Webmasters, bloggers and ezine owners that refer their visitors and subscribers to this site can share 60% of the revenues generated. That means around $25 for every sale.

The following table gives you an illustration of what this would mean in terms of revenues for various sales levels.

Number of Sales/Day Daily Revenues Weekly Revenues Monthly Revenues
1 $25 $175 $750
3 $75 $525 $2250
5 $125 $875 $3750
10 $250 $1750 $7500

No guarantees can be given as to expected revenues, as this depends on both the quantity and quality of traffic you provide, so the above is only for illustrative purposes. Actual revenues per sale may vary due to local taxation levels where the customer lives.

ClickBank

The affiliate scheme for The Simple Guide to Goals is administered by ClickBank. ClickBank is one of the largest marketplaces in the world for digitally-delivered goods. They send out checks every two weeks, providing you earn above the threshold (which you can set as low as $10).

Once signed up with ClickBank (for free), you can also promote any of the 10,000+ products in their marketplace.

How the Scheme Works

Once signed up with ClickBank, you are given a special URL (called a hoplink). Rather than sending your visitors directly to www.guidetogoals.com, you send them them to this link.

This sets a cookie on the visitor's computer, then redirects them to the site. To the visitor, they don't notice any difference - they seem to go straight to this website. If they go on to purchase, ClickBank sees the cookie set by your hoplink, and you are credited with the sale. You receive a percentage of the revenues generated (the price, minus processing fees).

Note: The attribution of affiliate revenues is decided by ClickBank. Please contact them directly if you have any issues or questions about your affiliate revenues.

Once you have your hoplink set up, there are various ways to use it to promote The Simple Guide to Goals....

Images and Graphics

Feel free to use the following images on your website or blog. Make sure you link to your affiliate URL, or you won't be credited for the sales that are made.

Right-click on the above images, then choose "Save Image As..." or equivalent to store them on your computer. Then upload them to your own server.

Note: Do not just link to the images on this site, as the locations are liable to change at short notice.

Sample Article

You can use the following article as the basis of a newsletter promotion, or you could post on your website or blog.

You may want to reword the article to make sure that the search engines don't penalize your page for duplicate content. Make sure you edit the link at the end to your own ClickBank hoplink (replace xxxxxx with your ClickBank ID) to get credited with all the sales made.

Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising

All the major search engines allow you to advertise alongside their search engine results pages, for phrases that you choose.

You only pay if someone clicks on the link, and comes to this site - so this is why this is commonly referred to as Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising.

Example: Let's say that you bid for the phrase "goal setting guide" using Google AdWords. Someone searches for that phrase, and your ad appears at the right-hand side of the search results page. You agree to pay 20 cents per click. 50 people click on your ad, and they are forwarded to this site. This costs you a total of $10.00 in advertising fees (50 x $0.20). One of them goes on to buy and you make a $25 commission for the sale - leaving you with $15.00 profit.

You will need to test out different combinations of words to improve your Return On Investment, but the following are phrases to get you started.

Pre-selling

Just forwarding people onto this website is a basic way of using your hoplink. However, if you want to greatly increase the number of people you send that actually go on to buy, it is a good idea to "pre-sell" the guide. That is, make sure your visitors are interested in the site before they even visit it.

Many people are naturally skeptical about claims made by people selling things. Just ask yourself - would you be more interested in buying an iPhone if Steve Jobs told it was the most amazing gadget ever, or if a friend did? Obviously, Steve Jobs has an interest in overstating how good it is - your friend doesn't.

Regardless of how good a product or service actually is, people tend to trust the opinion's of third-parties far more. Therefore, if you write an honest review of the guide and advise people to purchase, they will be far more likely to buy.

For example, you could write a blog post that says...

"I set myself the goal of getting more exercise a few months back, but gave up after a few days cause I kept forgetting about it. However, I recently got a copy of The Simple Guide to Goals, and it comes with a great tool called the Good Habit Checklist Builder. I was amazed at how simple it made achieving my goals, and it makes things as simple as checking off a list every day."

Remember, it should be positive - but honest. If someone posts a comment on your blog asking for more information - but you haven't actually used it - it will damage your credibility with your readers.

Spam

Please be very careful when promoting your ClickBank hoplinks using any method that could be considered as "Spam"

Examples include:

  • Sending mass e-mails to people that did not specifically agree to you sending them messages (e.g. subscribing to your newsletter). This includes e-mail addresses that you bought from someone else. You must have specific permission from them for you to contact them. Your ISP will ask for details of when and how they gave their permission (their IP address, when they subscribed, which site they subscribed from).

  • Posting on forums, if their terms and conditions state no affiliate links

  • Posting comments on people's blogs that have nothing to do with the message posted

  • Posting multiple messages on social networking sites, such as MySpace and FaceBook

  • Using software to post on forums, blogs or social networking sites in bulk. e.g. software that promises to post to 1,000s of pages with one click.

In any of these cases, at the very least you will get your ClickBank account cancelled, and lose any money you had earned. ClickBank are very pro-active in shutting down people that are Spamming, or otherwise annoying people. You could also have your website shut down, and be banned by your Internet Service Provider.

You may also be pursued legally by the website owners, companies affected, or the Government (Spamming is a specific crime in several countries).

So, don't do it!

There are people making millions of dollars through online affiliate schemes - using legal, ethical and (most of all) successful methods of promotions.
